It's Fall and My Garden Keeps Producing

McHenry Illinois Urban Vegetable Gardening.

How To Grow Vegetables

Who's into vegetable gardening McHenry Illinois

It's now October, fall, or autumn and my last post was in June.

I've been meaning to share my garden exploits since then but had a busy summer. From June, the garden has produced constantly a wide variety of vegetables and herbs that I'm thrilled with and want to triple next year. You can see the photos below

It's a lot of work but totally worth it when I keep getting veggies, growing from seed and my own hands, and to not spend money in the stores- it's a pleasure to put the effort in, especially as a personal chef, and again, I urge anyone with a small to large garden, to learn.

Because you are constantly learning. I've made many mistakes this growing season that hopefully will not happen again.

And now, it's October, and as you can see from the photos, my garden is still feeding me, my family, and clients. Unreal. Plenty of tomatoes, beans, zucchinis, herbs, peppers, cucumbers, beets (and their wonderful leaves), and especially eggplants, which have produced all summer right up until now.

I've also made tons of tomato sauce (for pitta pizza, pasta, bases for stews) as well as our own milk from oats, yep, oat milk...no more buying store-bought milk.

So, winter is coming. I'll be planting garlic and preparing for spring.

The plan is a few more raised beds, extend the 10 x 10 by a few feet. Plant cherry trees as I want to grow and eat as many cherries as I can. And next year, triple my produce to make sauces, meals, soups for the winter.

Any questions do ask below, and share this especially if you live in McHenry, Illinois. Actually, if you do live in McHenry, and have a vegetable garden and want to share your thoughts, tips, please do.

Happy gardening.
